Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland

Iceland’s disruptive volcano  Eyjafjallajökull,  has erupted for the second time in less than a month, melting ice, shooting smoke and steam into the air and forcing hundreds of people to flee rising floodwaters. The volcanic ash has forced the cancellation of many flights and disrupted air traffic across northern Europe, stranding thousands of passengers.

Collected here are photos of the most recent eruption, and of last month’s eruptions, which were from the same volcano, just several miles further east. (18 photos total).

Here is a map slowing the location of the volcano in Iceland…

Canon AutoZoom 318M

I also found this antique Super 8 movie camera, the Canon Auto Zoom 318M. The Canon Auto Zoom 318 M was produced in 1972, but the black model was commercialized in 1976. This movie camera is equipped with a lens Canon Zoom C-8 10-30 mm f:1.8; it is Macro. Its weight is kg. 0,470 and size is 60x81x172 cm. This movie camera was very popular.

Polariod SX-70 Land Camera

Shifting though an old trunk the other day, I came across an antique camera, the Polariod SX-70 Land Camera and its flash, the Polariod Polatronic 2350 Flashgun. Here is the picture of the two…

Most Popular line of Digital Cameras

The Canon PowerShot family is the most popular line of digital cameras on the market.

If you check Flickr’s Camera Finder, for example, you’ll find that more than 420 million PowerShot photos have been posted to the site, versus 230 million Sony Cyber-shot images, and even less for Nikon, Kodak, and the rest.

The distinction is well deserved. The feature-rich, well-built PowerShots tend to be very reliable and take excellent photos for their class, earning Canon frequent Editors’ Choice awards and top scores on our annual readers survey.

Poorman's Macro Photography

I had purchased a Canon Powershot A580 digital camera about a year back, I have been taking quite a few snaps (some are uploaded at Digital Iris). The camera is agood one for a poor guy like me who cannot afford a Digital SLR :( .

Well, of of my friend has a Canon dSLR and he has been taking excellent Macro shots. I was very impressed and developed a kind of addiction too! Not the problem was my A580 does ahve a limited Macro feature and the minimum distance of 2.0″ (5cm) only. Getting closed makes the subject out-of-focus. Well, I too some photos but was not satisfied…as I was not able to get ‘that close’.

Wondering what to do (and with no money to purchase a dSLR), I said to myself..”well boy, lear to live with what you have :) ”. But my heart did not comply and my mind’s gear started cranking…and voila, a ‘sudden brilliant idea’.

I held a ‘magnifying glass’ right against the lens, set teh camera to ‘macro mode’ and…oh yes….could get really really close. here are the results…”Macros with a Magnifying Glass“..@Flickr. Check them out and do give your comments.

Thanks :)
